1. Who we are

Sortyd is an iOS habit tracking app built and operated by an independent developer. We can be reached at privacy@sortyd.com.

2. Data stored on your device

All of your app data is stored locally on your device using iOS's UserDefaults and the App Group container shared with the Sortyd widget and Apple Watch app. This includes:

• Your task lists, task titles, and completion history
• Daily snapshots used to calculate streaks and analytics
• Reminder times you set for individual tasks
• Your selected theme (dark/light mode preference)

3. AI Coach — what gets sent to the internet

When you use the AI Coach or Analytics features, Sortyd sends a limited, anonymised summary to generate insights. This summary contains:

• Your task titles (e.g. "Morning Workout", "Drink Water")
• Your completion rates per task over the past 7–14 days
• Which days of the week tasks were completed or skipped

This data is sent through a Cloudflare Worker proxy to Groq's API to generate your coaching response. We do not log, store, or retain this data on our servers. Each request is independent — we have no way to link it back to you.

Your health data, device identifiers, location, and any personal information are never included in these requests.

4. Apple HealthKit

If you connect Apple Health, Sortyd reads your step count and active calories burned in read-only mode. This data is used exclusively to auto-complete health tasks you've set (e.g. "Walk 10,000 steps").

• Health data is read locally from Apple's HealthKit framework
• It is never uploaded to our servers or included in AI requests
• It is never shared with third parties
• You can revoke Health access at any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access

5. Notifications

Sortyd schedules daily task reminders and an optional evening summary notification. All notifications are processed entirely on-device using iOS's UserNotifications framework. No notification content is sent to our servers.

You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Sortyd.

6. Analytics

Sortyd uses Firebase Analytics (by Google) to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data. This helps us understand how the app is used so we can improve it. The data collected includes:

• Screen views (e.g. which tabs you visit)
• Feature interactions (e.g. creating a list, completing a task, using AI Coach)
• Basic device metadata (OS version, device model)

This data is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising, and is not used for cross-app tracking. Firebase Analytics assigns a per-installation identifier that resets if you delete and reinstall the app. We do not use advertising SDKs, crash reporters, or any other third-party analytics service.

7. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with any third party for commercial purposes. The external services that may receive data from Sortyd are:

• Groq API — receives an anonymised task summary only when you explicitly trigger AI Coach or Analytics features (see Section 3)
• Google Firebase Analytics — receives anonymous usage events as described in Section 6. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy

No other third party receives any data from Sortyd.

8. Children's privacy

Sortyd is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store. If you believe a child has used the app and you have concerns, contact us at privacy@sortyd.com.

9. Data retention and deletion

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are always in full control. To delete all Sortyd data: delete the app from your device. This removes everything — tasks, history, snapshots, preferences — permanently.

Snapshot history older than 730 days is automatically pruned within the app to keep storage usage minimal.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We will never make changes that reduce your privacy protections without clear notice.
